wowee!

kad suan kaew mall is having some sort of festival or something and there’s all these workers building a massive undersea scene out of bamboo and paper mache. it’s soooo cool! and it’s all crafted by hand, which is incredible. i love crafty things! i’m not sure when this festival thing happens, but i hope i can see the finished results. they’re building a lot of it into the mall, with octopuses wrapped around pillars and whatnot. plus it looks like they’re building a lot of it so people can climb around inside of the creations.

some finished creatures and anemone:

scooters

it’s pretty fun riding around on a scooter here. all the motorbikes pass by cars at red lights to get first in line and it’s kind of cool when the light turns and a big herd of motorbikes take off like a swarm of bees.

a giant munny or something

yiiiiiiiikes

spotted a big ol’ swastika at the mall today:

there was this really cool breakdancing contest thing at kad suan kaew mall the other day.

i didn’t really get any good pictures, but there was this temporary wall set up and some people were doing some graffiti-style painting. shaun got some video, i’ll probably post it later.

north gate vendors

the north gate is the closest gate to where we live, so we get a lot of food from the street vendors that hang out in that area. a couple of places sell khow pad (fried rice), but it seems like most of them sell pork and such. this one place is in situated in one of the buildings near the street vendors and it has the khow pad moo (pork fried rice) i’ve ever had. yummmmm!

xmas

a lot of businesses have set up christmas and new year’s decorations around town, and there’s been fireworks and people have been setting off paper lanterns celebrating the holidays.

there’s a gym shaun goes to sometimes with our friend justin. it’s just under $1USD to get in for non-residents non-students. it’s pretty huge, with multiple stadiums and a big swimming pool.
